Love or Habit? The Secrets of Venus and the Moon Sign explores how two placements in a natal chart shape the way a person loves, commits, and seeks emotional security. Reyhan Sütlü works from the premise that Venus describes what we find attractive and how we express affection, while the Moon reveals what we need in order to feel safe and cared for. When these two signals pull in different directions, relationships can settle into routines that look like love but function more like habit. The book sets out to help readers recognize that difference in themselves and in their partners.
The first sections explain the roles of Venus and the Moon in astrology and show how each sign expresses them in everyday behavior: how affection is offered, how closeness is handled, what triggers withdrawal, and what kinds of reassurance actually land. Later chapters combine the two placements, discussing common pairings and the tensions that arise between attraction and emotional need. Practical guidance and reflective questions accompany the interpretations, so the material can be applied to real relationships rather than read as abstract theory.
Written for readers with a basic familiarity with astrology as well as for those encountering chart interpretation for the first time, the book is aimed at anyone who wants a clearer language for discussing love, commitment, and emotional expectations. It does not promise predictions; it offers a structured way of observing patterns and talking about them more honestly.

A Chapter from the Book: Chapter 1 — Why Is This Question So Difficult? 3
CHAPTER 1 Why Is This Question So Difficult? Somebody texts you good morning every day. Somebody asks how your meeting went, remembers your sister's name, notices when your voice sounds tired. You talk more with this person than with almost anyone else. And somewhere in the middle of all that, a question starts to form that you can't quite say out loud: is this love, or is this just what my days look like now? That question is uncomfortable because it has no clean answer. It isn't a riddle with a solution waiting at the back of the book. It's a question about the difference between two things that feel almost identical from the inside — and that's exactly why it deserves a whole chapter before we go anywhere near a birth chart. What We're Actually Talking About In plain words, this book is about the gap between how a relationship looks and what it's actually made of. Being in someone's life, and being loved by them, are two different things, and daily life mixes them together constantly. Regular contact feels like closeness. Worry about you feels like care. A stable place in someone's routine feels like commitment. None of that is fake. That's the point. The habit isn't a lie about the love; it's something real that can exist with or without the love. This book is for telling those threads apart. What this subject is not: it is not a way to catch anyone out, and it is not a test you run on another person to get a verdict. It's not a compatibility score, and it's not a promise that you'll end up certain. It's a way of looking at a relationship more honestly — including your own part in it. As you'll see, the harder question is often not "does this person love me?" but "why am I staying, and would I notice the difference?" Where the Question Comes From The question is old because the confusion is ordinary. People have always needed each other for practical reasons — company, steadiness, shared daily life — and have always hoped that need would grow into love, or disguise itself as one. In the astrological tradition, this is exactly the ground that Venus and the Moon are said to describe. Venus is associated with how we show affection, what we find attractive, what we value in a partner. The Moon is associated with emotional need, what makes us feel safe and soothed, what we reach for when we're unsettled. And Saturn is associated with
time, structure, and duration — with what lasts and what it costs to keep something going. Keep those three words in mind as you read: affection, need, duration. Most of the confusion in this book lives where they overlap. How the Tradition Explains It Let's be clear about what this is. In the astrological tradition it is held that the positions of these planets at a person's birth describe patterns in how they give and receive love. That is a claim within a tradition, not a finding of science. Nobody has demonstrated it, and this book won't pretend otherwise. But a tradition can still be useful — not as a verdict about your partner, but as a vocabulary. It gives names to things you've felt but couldn't quite describe. That vocabulary is simpler than it sounds. The tradition works with twelve zodiac signs — Aries through Pisces — and each planet is read through the sign it sits in. Venus in Taurus and Venus in Gemini are both Venus, but the tradition reads them very differently: one as slow, steady, physical loyalty; the other as curious, talkative, needing mental spark. The Moon in Cancer and the Moon in Aquarius are both about feeling safe, but what "safe" means in each case is not the same. You'll meet all twelve in the chapters ahead. The logic underneath is this: same planet, different style. Love doesn't look the same from everyone, and the way one person shows it deeply may barely register to another. That is where a lot of the "is it love or habit?" fog actually comes from — two people loving in different dialects and each assuming the other is speaking badly. The Words You'll Keep Meeting Three ideas run through the whole book, so let's meet them now. The first is the difference between feeling and expression. In the tradition, Venus describes how you show love — your style, your gestures, your aesthetic of affection — while the Moon describes what you need in order to feel loved. Those two don't always match inside the same person, and they certainly don't match between two people. Someone can love you sincerely and still express it in a way you don't receive. That's not a trick; it's a mismatch, and it's worth knowing which one you're looking at. The second is security, the Moon's home ground. The Moon is said to describe attachment needs — comfort, familiarity, the feeling of home in another person. This is precisely where habit and love blur most. Security is lovely, and security alone is not the same as being in love. The tradition gives this a place of honor; this book asks you to look at it clearly rather than flinch from it.
The third is endurance, Saturn's ground. Saturn is associated with time, patience, and things that are built slowly and sustained by effort. In the tradition, a relationship with Saturn's signature is one that values staying. Which is a virtue — and also the reason people stay too long. Duration is evidence of something.
