Skin Harmony in Astrology explores how the positions of Venus and Mars are read as two complementary forces that shape attraction, desire, and the way people relate to one another. Reyhan Sütlü treats the Venus–Mars pairing not as a simple compatibility formula but as a lens for understanding the tension between what a person finds beautiful and what a person pursues. The book explains the symbolic roles of both planets, how they interact in a natal chart, and why their combined influence is often described as the hidden mechanism behind romantic and creative chemistry.
Readers are guided through the meanings of Venus and Mars in the signs, their aspects to each other, and the ways these placements are interpreted in synastry and composite charts. Practical chapters show how to compare two charts, identify points of friction and harmony, and read the results without overstating what astrology can claim. Alongside technique, the author discusses the psychological dimension: how awareness of these patterns can inform communication, boundary-setting, and self-understanding in relationships.
The book is written for intermediate students of astrology who already know the basics of signs and houses and want to work more closely with planetary pairs. Beginners will find the early chapters accessible, while practising astrologers can use the worked examples as a reference for their own chart readings. It is a focused, methodical guide rather than a collection of predictions, and it invites readers to test its interpretations against real charts and their own experience.

A Chapter from the Book: Chapter 1 — What Is Attraction, and What Does Astrology Say? 3
CHAPTER 1 What Is Attraction, and What Does Astrology Say? The Spark Before Anything Happens You know the feeling. You walk into a room, or you land next to someone at a table, or a screen lights up with a message from a particular person, and something in you sits up a little straighter. Nothing has happened. Nobody has done anything. But the air feels different, and you are suddenly more awake than you were a minute ago. That is what this book is about. Not love, not relationships, not commitment — at least not yet. It is about the moment before all of those things, the pull you feel toward another person when the story hasn't even started. Some people call it chemistry. Some call it a vibe, a spark, an instant click. Whatever you call it, you've felt it, and you've probably noticed something else too: it doesn't happen with everyone, and it doesn't always make sense. This chapter is where we set the table. Before we look at Mars and Venus and angles and houses, we need to be clear about what attraction actually is, and what astrology claims to be able to say about it. Two questions, in plain language. The Pull You Can't Quite Explain Physical attraction shows up in the body first, long before the mind catches up. You notice your attention snagging on someone across a room. You find yourself leaning in when they speak. A conversation that should be small talk somehow isn't. The strange part is that this can happen with someone you wouldn't have picked for yourself — someone whose looks aren't your usual type, whose background doesn't match yours, whose life doesn't obviously fit with your own. And yet the pull is there, real enough that you keep noticing it. There's a second layer too, one that's easy to miss because it's quieter. Sometimes the attraction isn't about a body at all — it's about ease. You talk to someone and the conversation flows without effort, no performing, no managing the silences. You leave feeling lighter than you arrived. In the astrological tradition, these two experiences — the jolt of physical chemistry and the comfort of easy connection — are treated as different things, ruled by different parts of the chart. They can show up together, and often they don't. That distinction matters more than it might seem right now, and we'll come back to it again and again.
What attraction is not, however, is a verdict. It is not a green light from the universe, and it is not a warning either. It's information — a signal that something in you responded to something in another person. What you do with that signal is a separate question, and one that no chart can answer for you. This is worth saying plainly at the start, because it's the most common way people misuse astrology: they feel a strong pull, see a promising chart, and conclude that the relationship is meant to be. The pull is real. The conclusion is a leap. What Astrology Actually Claims to Do Here is where we have to be careful, and honest. Astrology does not explain attraction the way physics explains gravity. It does not claim that Venus orbiting at a certain degree reaches down and flips a switch in your chest. In the astrological tradition it is held that the positions of the planets at the moment of your birth form a symbolic map — a kind of language for describing tendencies, appetites, and patterns. Whether that map corresponds to anything beyond symbolism is a question people argue about, and this book won't pretend to settle it. What the tradition offers is a vocabulary: a way of naming the different flavours of attraction so you can notice them more clearly in yourself. That's the honest framing. Think of it the way you'd think of any symbolic system — the way a weather forecast isn't the weather but helps you decide what to wear. Suppose that two people meet and feel an immediate, electric pull. An astrologer looking at their charts isn't predicting the outcome; they're pointing at certain symbols and saying, in effect, the tradition would describe this kind of spark as a conversation between these two parts of the chart. You can find that description useful, illuminating, or neither. What you can't do — what the tradition itself doesn't do — is treat it as proof of anything. So this book is not going to tell you who you're destined for. It is going to show you how a very old symbolic language describes the experience you already have: the sudden interest, the easy conversation, the inexplicable pull toward someone who isn't your type. The symbols don't create the feeling. They give you a way to look at it. The Inner Logic: Why Planets and Angles? You might reasonably ask: why would anyone connect the movement of distant planets to something as intimate as who you're drawn to? The answer, in the tradition's own terms, has nothing to do with the planets pushing you around. It has to do with correspondence — the old idea that the same patterns repeat at different scales. What happens in the sky, what happens in a life, what happens in a body: the tradition holds that these mirror one another.
A planet's placement is treated as a signifier of a quality of energy, the way a word is a signifier of a meaning. Nobody claims the letters on the page cause the meaning. They carry it.
