This book is a practical guide to horary astrology, the branch of the tradition that answers a specific question asked at a specific moment. Its focus is the experience of waiting: the news we expect, the answer that has not yet arrived, and the outcome we hope to learn. Reyhan Sütlü takes the reader through how a horary chart is cast and read when the subject is an anticipated message, a delayed reply, or an unresolved result, showing how the chart is used to describe timing and the likely shape of events rather than to offer vague reassurance.
The book explains the roles of the significators, the Moon as co-significator of the question, reception between planets, and the aspects that indicate whether contact, information, or a decision will come. It gives attention to the vocabulary of horary judgement: translation and collection of light, prohibition, frustration, and the distinction between a matter that is promised and one that is merely hoped for. Worked examples and chart illustrations connect these techniques to everyday questions about letters, applications, exam results, job offers, and replies from other people.
It is written for students of astrology who already know the basics of planets, signs, and houses and want to apply that knowledge to concrete questions. Beginners working through their first horary charts will find the method laid out step by step, while more experienced practitioners will value the sustained treatment of waiting and timing as a subject in its own right. The aim throughout is disciplined, testable interpretation rather than prediction for its own sake.

A Chapter from the Book: Chapter 1 — The Weight of Waiting 3
CHAPTER 1 The Weight of Waiting You sent the application. You had the interview. And now you are checking your phone more often than you would like to admit. Nothing has gone wrong, exactly. There is no bad news to point to. There is just this: a decision exists somewhere in the world, in someone else's hands, and you do not know yet what it is. That is the whole problem, and somehow it is enormous. This chapter is about that space — the gap between asking and knowing. It comes before any technique, before any chart, because if we don't understand why the waiting feels so heavy, the rest of the book will look like a collection of rules without a reason. So let's start with the weight itself. Waiting is hard because it is not empty time. Empty time would be restful. Waiting is time filled with a question that has no answer yet, and your mind does not tolerate open questions well. It keeps returning to the same spot, turning the same few facts over, trying to squeeze a conclusion out of material that simply doesn't contain one. You replay the interview. You reread the email. You wonder whether the silence means something. It rarely means anything — but the mind treats uncertainty like an itch, and it will scratch. There is a particular discomfort in waiting for something you cannot influence. If you were still preparing, you would have a task. If you had already been rejected, you would have a wound, but at least it would be a known wound. What you have instead is a suspended state, and human beings are not built to live in suspension. We would rather have a clear answer we dislike than a fog we cannot read. This is why people refresh their inboxes, ask friends to guess, and reach for anything that promises to shorten the fog. What this book is about, plainly The tradition this book draws on is called horary astrology. The word comes from the Latin for "of the hour," and that is exactly what it claims to be: a way of reading the sky at the moment a question is asked. In the astrological tradition it is held that the moment of a sincere question carries meaning, the way some people believe a particular moment carries meaning for a birth. A horary chart is the map of the sky for that moment, drawn for the place where the question was asked. People use it for the kind of questions this book circles around. Will I hear back about the job? When will the decision be announced? Will the person I wrote to answer me? Will the offer come through? In the tradition, the chart is examined for signs of outcome and timing
— whether the matter concludes, and roughly when. That is the whole of its ambition. It is a divinatory practice, not a forecasting service, and it does not concern itself with the weather, the stock market, or the fate of nations. It is worth being plain about what this is not. It is not a science, and this book will not pretend otherwise. Horary astrology has not been shown to predict real-world outcomes reliably; there are no tests that demonstrate it works, and you should be suspicious of anyone who tells you the matter is settled. It is a tradition — old, internally coherent, and taken seriously by many people who practice it — but coherence inside a system is not the same as proof about the world. Hold both things at once as you read: respect for the tradition's inner logic, and honesty about its status as a claim rather than a finding. The purpose of learning it is not to hand your decisions over to a chart. It is to have a structured way of sitting with a question — and, for many people, that structure is itself a comfort. How the tradition explains itself Here is the tradition's own account, offered as the tradition gives it, not as established fact. In horary astrology it is held that a question asked with real sincerity at a real moment can be read from the sky of that moment. The chart is cast for the time and place the question is asked — this is why practitioners are careful about pinning down the exact moment, because the moment is the whole basis of the reading. The chart itself is a circle divided into twelve sections called houses, with the zodiac signs arranged around them and the planets placed according to where they actually were in the sky. Each house is held to govern a department of life: the first house the person asking, the second their money and possessions, the third their immediate surroundings and communication, the fourth their home, and so on around the wheel. For the questions in this book, two houses come up again and again. The tenth house is associated with career, status, and authority — the employer, the decision-maker, the institution you are waiting on. The seventh house is associated with the other party in a one-to-one matter, the person whose answer you want. Which house applies depends on what kind of question you are actually asking, and learning to tell the difference is a skill in itself. Each house has a ruler — the planet that governs the sign on that house's edge — and the ruler is treated as the representative of that house's business.
